Riviera Maya is a true marvel not only underwater but also on the surface.
Riviera Maya is a place where fresh water runs like rivers through underground cave systems.
Part of this land collapsed after the last ice age more than 8,000 years ago, creating sinkholes called CENOTES, derived from the Mayan word “Dzonot” which means sacred well and were considered the entrance to the mythical underworld by the ancient Mayas.
The perfect location to start exploring the Riviera Maya to the North and South is Playa del Carmen. Pro Dive International features several dive centers to the north and south of Playa del Carmen, along the Riviera Maya. Each is recognized with the National Geographic and Green Star awards.
From Riviera Maya, you can take a ferry and go to Cozumel.
